Sony 3.5", model KV-4000 ca: 1980

Before HD, the KV-4000 was Sony's highest quality, small screen color TV using the high resolution Trinitron CRT. Operates from AC (power pack included), optional battery pack built-in batteries or external DC. Unlike the low resolution CRT's used in other small screen color TVs with a large dot pitch (most used the same as the much larger CRTs). The small CRT used in the Sony KV-4000 has a much smaller dot pitch than used in many larger screens. The small dot pitch  provides much higher resolution where small things like the text can even be read. This model was the favorite of TV station engineers in its day because of the extremely high resolution. Many were used as their desk as a monitor.

The above has been electronically restored. All functions work well with a nice bright picture and good sound. The images shown are actual operating images that were received from a DVD player connected through an RF converter. For info on enjoying and operating your vintage TV in the modern digital era, see my related article.
