Zenith 3 speed record player ca: 1954

This unique little player with the Zenith name is clearly marked "Made In France". It was obviously made for US operation as it's designed for 120 volt, 60 Hz operation.

I made a couple of modifications; 1 - it's no longer a "mono' player. The special cartridge used originally was made for mono play only and an original replacement, I was unable to find. So, not being one to give up easily, I fitted the tone arm with a bit more modern stereo cartridge. I did so by separating the upper and lower sections of the original cartridge so I could maintain its original mounting. Using the part of the original cartridge half (the part that clips in), I secured the replacing that used a flip-under 3 speed stylus (LP/45 - 78 RPM). 2 - Then I went one step further by wiring the audio cabling for stereo. All was done so it could be undone by any purest that might find an original cartridge and wish to put it back as I was. See more photos below:
